This ERGOsax saxophone support is made specially for the baritone and bass saxophone. It only needs the normal neck strap ring where it will be attached.
It is quite natural that a player, who has been playing for years, will go through an experiment and adjustment period when first using the ERGOsax support. Most players have developed some tiny movements during playing, the player does not need them anywhere, in fact he or she does not even know about most of them. But it is only a matter of some days or weeks, and a player will get used to ERGOsax and find a new way to make his or hers typical movements, only now ERGOsax will support the weight of the instrument. Now you can discover new and healthier ways of playing. You’ll find out very soon that you can turn and lean your horn with minimal effort. In fact the only real difference is that you feel more relaxed and playing is lighter and more comfortable…
As there is nothing attached permanently to the horn, there is no problem to put your saxophone in your horn case. The telescope is approx. 58 cm long and easy to transport. In many cases you can pack the telescope in the bell of your sax, just wrap some softening cloth around the telescope and place it in the bell!
It is most important that the instrument is at the right height – where you find it comfortable – when you play. Push the button of the telescope and slide the height so that it is roughly comfortable for you and then adjust it with the support rod. Just open the screw, slide the support head higher or lower and fix it there.
On a heavy bass saxophone we recommend you keep the steel support rod as short as possible. Lift the support head as high as possible with the telescope and only do the final adjustment with the steel rod.
The ERGOsax is designed to be as invisible as possible, it is simple and non-obtrusive.
The saxophone can be played quite easily even without the strap with the ERGOsax. However, many players like to use the neck strap even if the weight is no more carried by the neck. With the neck strap you may even have a more stable feel for playing. However, this is a personal matter after all.
In addition, if something unexpected happens while you play, then the neck strap may prevent you from dropping the instrument. Therefore we always recommend you to use the neck strap for security reasons!
